Mapeamento das capacidades de pesquisa sobre a Mata Atlântica no Brasil: estudo bibliométrico e cientométrico
##plugins.themes.bootstrap3.article.sidebar##
The general objective of this study is to map research capacities in Brazil on the Atlantic Forest. Specific objectives include to identify and characterize the scientific production, identify Graduate Programs and Research Groups involved with research on the Atlantic Forest and characterize them, describing their concentration areas and research lines. A bibliometric analysis of the scientific production on the Atlantic Forest was carried out based on data collected from the SciELO database and from the Digital Library of Theses and Dissertations. Next, a scientometric analysis of the Graduate Programs and Research Groups was performed, based on data collected from the Sucupira Platform and the Directory of Research Groups. Scientific production in articles, theses and dissertations has grown consistently since the 2000s. A consistent core of research capacities has been identified, made up of institutions and researchers that focus primarily on the broad area of Biological Sciences and mostly work on institutions located in the southeastern region of Brazil. There has been an expressive growth of graduate programs, concentration areas and research lines focused on the Atlantic Forest in Brazil, with important research capacities in topics more directly related to the biome, such as Ecology and Biodiversity, but also in other areas. Furthermore, research capacities on the Atlantic Forest were also identified in the Research Groups, mainly concentrated in Biological Sciences (Ecology, Zoology, Botany), but also in Exact and Earth Sciences (Chemistry, Geosciences) and Agrarian Sciences (Agronomy).
