This paper deals with some fundamental issues pertaining to the implementation of the professional master’s degree, as well as to the implication of this practice in the regional business scenario. It offers a preliminary discussion of the competences that the professional graduated in this area should have. It also deals with the validity of the concept of the professional master’s degree for the higher education and for the market. In addition, the paper provides a brief conjuncture analysis of the region of Caxias do Sul (RS). In association with these questions, it considers, at the end, some wider topics regarding the educational paradigm from competences.Downloads
