The article shows the results of an evaluation of training in the use of the research resources of the Capes Website of Journals and the Online Directory of Databases, conducted at the Central Library of the State University of Maringá (UEM) in 2004. The evaluation was based on the viewpoints expressed by students of UEM´s Master Program of Pharmaceutical Sciences. In the literature on Library and Information Science, the health sector is identified as a major user of library resources and of research and review services. The perception of users regarding the importance of the Capes Website of Journals to their research needs was identified. Also evaluated was that importance of the librarian as an intermediary between research resources and the acquisition of information. The results of the study revealed that the use of the Website is of great importance and that the librarians’ capability and intermediation are essential to this end. It was also found that the resources of the Capes Website of Journals and of the Online Directory of Databases should be linked to empowerment of its users through presentations and courses provided by librarians.Downloads
