Curricular proposal for master degree study in the Technology of Chemical and Biochemical Processes - an experience at the School of Chemistry of UFRJ

Abstract

The Graduate Program in the Technology of Chemical and Biochemical Processes, of the School of Chemistry at the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (UFRJ), has an interdisciplinary character and is conceived for chemical engineers and professionals in related fi elds who are interested in the advanced study of Chemical Engineering. By involving diverse areas of knowledge pertaining to the Basic Sciences and Engineering, the Program attracts students with a variety of different undergraduate backgrounds. To address the diversity of student origins, the Program reformed the curriculum of its master’s course in order to identify combinations of fundamental disciplines based on trajectories of origin–destination. As a result, the student’s area of concentration (or major) is defi ned by particular combinations of supervised electives.
