Studies have been developed in order to identify and map groups with a potential for graduate study in emerging research topics in all fi elds of knowledge. This article presents results for the fi eld of engineering. Three recent prospective studies were utilized or order to identify perspectives for graduate programs in engineering. The studies were: Millennium, presented by the University of United Nations, with a horizon for 2020; Strategic Technologies, developed by The Battelle Institute (2020); and Knowledge and Challenges for Brazil, produced by the Center of Strategic Studies (2008, 2015, 2022). A methodology was developed by crossing the information from the Research Directory of CNPq (National Council of Scientifi c and Technological Development) with the data base of Capes (Coordination for the Improvement of Higher Educated Personnel)Downloads
