The Science of Ecology is complex and the training of ecologists is equally so. This essay focuses on the possibilities and limitations of analysis and synthesis as approaches for facilitating scientific understanding about natural phenomena and for reducing the distance between the natural sciences and the humanities. The essay offers considerations and consequences that are deemed to be useful to discussions about the training of ecologists on the graduate level.Downloads
