Access to information is a sine qua non condition for the effective exercise of citizenship. Therefore, over the last few years some initiatives have been developed to promote access to the Information and Knowledge Society. In Portugal, the Online Knowledge Library (b-on) has become an essential means of access to knowledge for the national scientific and academic community. The b-on has made it easier to access full-text articles from a relevant set of scientific publications of some of the most important publishers and holders of international scientific databases by exploiting economies of scale through the centralized purchase of contents.Downloads
