In this article, we provide information and reflections on the Professional Master's Degree in Biology Teaching in a national network that is part of the Professional Master's Degree Program for the Qualification of Teachers in the Public Basic Education System. With activities beginning in August 2017, the network included, up to 2024, nineteen campuses from eighteen associated institutions, covering all geographic regions of the country and encompassing fourteen states and the Federal District. From 2025 onwards, the network was expanded to five more states, totaling 28 institutions. Aimed at public high school teachers, the Professional Master's Degree in Biology Teaching has trained more than 1,500 masters and has about 700 master's students on its staff. We seek to present a historical perspective of the program, data of interest for educational policies in the context of professional master's degrees for Basic Education, changes that have been implemented in the program, and the challenges faced.
