Abstract

Based on qualitative and quantitative methods and using bibliographical and documental research, this article verifies the investments of the Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation, made in the scientific area through the Action Plan of Science, Technology and Innovation 2007-2010. It examines whether the Brazilian Southeast Region is able to meet the demands and proposals of the National Plan in terms of human resources in the fields of Biotechnology and Nanotechnology. Eight graduate programs are identified that fit into Strategic Priorities 1 and 3 and Action Line 7. The said programs obtained grades 5, 6 and/or 7 in the 2010 Triennial Evaluation of CAPES. The number of CAPES and CNPq scholarships for MsC and PhD degrees in the two fields is also determined.
