Ao mesmo tempo em que ecologia e meio ambiente é a quarta área de conhecimento do Brasil em termos de impacto científico no mundo, o país alcança níveis sem precedentes de desmatamento na Amazônia. Este artigo discute as razões por trás desse aparente paradoxo e propõe que uma rede de mestrados profissionais em Ecologia e Meio Ambiente será um importante passo na construção de um elo mais duradouro entre acadêmicos e tomadores de decisão.
