Based on the experience of proposing and implementing an Interdisciplinary Masterís Degree Program in Health and Occupational Management, a need was identified for a deeper understanding of the process of constructing knowledge inherent to graduate study. This article proposes a matrix model that takes as its starting point the needs of the Sistema ⁄nico de Sa˙de ñ SUS (the Brazilian national health system). The model serves to widen the possibilities of building knowledge, considering not only classic forms, but also emerging methodologies, establishing a link between them which is complementary rather than exclusionary. The integrated project is selected as the most adequate for meeting the various demands placed on graduate study, and enlarged triangulation is chosen as the preferential method for the development of studies based on participatory networks of health professionals and users of the system, including individuals, families, groups and institutions. These mechanisms are seen as contributing to the consolidatation of the SUS.Downloads
