The transformations in the national and worldwide economy have added new and important issues with which agri-food companies must deal. In this respect, it is important to have qualified professionals, familiar with the problems associated with the operation of the agri-industrial system. Specialists in the area seem to concur that qualified human resources are among the factors that are critical for the success of this sector. In an effort to meet the demand, Brazilian higher education institutions have been expanding the number of programs that aim to graduate these professionals. This article critically reflects on Brazilian higher education in the agribusiness area and, more specifically, on issues involving the graduate programs and the multidisciplinary character of this field.Downloads
