This work addresses the adhesion to the Support Program for the Restructuring and Expansion of Federal Universities (REUNI) in the context of the Federal University of Rio Grande do Norte (UFRN). Its purpose is to characterize actions aimed at teacher training limited to the university’s degree-granting graduate courses. It discusses experiences of the Teaching Introductory Course and Teaching Internships, which are part of the Assistance Program for Teaching in Undergraduate (PADG), as an institutionalized policy to fulfill the objective of training teachers for undergraduate and graduate teaching. It also reports experiences involving the articulation between undergraduate and graduate education in this educational institution. Finally, it addresses the challenges regarding the dimension of training for graduate teaching.
