The present study aimed to analyze the experiences of female teachers in the Graduate Programs of a university in the countryside of Rio Grande do Sul. The problem that guided this research can be formulated as follows: with regard to teaching in the Graduate Program of this university, what are the challenges for women in relation to access and permanence? The research is justified from the observation that of the 152 professors registered in the Graduate Programs of this university, only 59 are women. Data collection was performed through the application of questionnaires, since it is an appropriate technique when it is intended to recognize the perception of the researched on the subject in question. It is a qualitative research. It can be concluded that as overloads of demands added to domestic and family tasks are the main difficulties of access and permanence. Despite the difficulties, the teachers report satisfaction in the relationship with the students, in the management exercise and in the internationalization process of the course. Regarding male preponderance in the programs, they find that men have the best curriculum, due to not having an overload of domestic and family work, although some of the interviewees reported not knowing the reason.
