Abstract

Research is one of the most important functions of the university. The education of researchers has rarely been studied from the viewpoint of the target population of the process: the graduate students themselves. This study aims to analyze the opinions of master’s degree candidates regarding their mastery of research methods and the required conditions for improvement their scientific education. A questionnaire was applied to the students at the master’s program in physics at the Universidade Federal de Sergipe. The results reveal that most of the students evaluated positively their mastery of research methods. They also suggested steps to improve their education, related to material conditions (40%), the processes of learning (20%), and the structure of the program (20%). These suggestions will be analyzed by the program director, in order to improve the education of researchers.
