Experiencing teaching practice in Chemistry by means of PIBID: introduction of experimental activities at public schools

Abstract

In the present work, we present a report on the situations experienced by students from the Chemistry Department of Universidade Federal da Paraíba who participate in the Institutional Scholarship Program for Teacher Initiation (PIBID). The idea behind the project is based on an attempt to enrich our undergraduate teaching program through the introduction in public high schools of interventions such as experimentation, which play a crucial role in chemistry teaching. The experiences are analyzed for the impact that they can have on the learning process for high school students and also for the academic training of future teachers. It can be noticed that the engagement of students in the project represents a rich opportunity for the construction of a thoughtful and innovative teaching identity.
