Workload management allocation for research activities in a nonstate university: a case study
##plugins.themes.bootstrap3.article.sidebar##
The maintenance of scientific research has been a financial challenge for community (nonstate public) universities. The workload allocated to research activities is a problem involving several variables such as proportionality between instructors hired for full-time work and other work systems, the demand for administrative and teaching activities in the university and the scientific merit of each researcher, among others. In this paper a case study is presented, proposing a solution for the management of workload allocation for research. This solution is based on an optimization problem that considers the productivity of the involved researchers, characteristics of each area of knowledge, the metrics of the university under consideration for evaluating the scientific production and the hours allocated by the university exclusively for research activities.
