In Brazil, teaching in Higher Education requires preparation preferably in stricto sensu graduate programs (PPGs), according to the current legislation, without instructions regarding pedagogical training of these teachers. Thus, several professionals with a bachelor’s degree are prepared to teach in Higher Education exclusively by PPGs, as do many of the faculty in Biological and Health Sciences. Thus, the objective of this study was to verify, using an electronic questionnaire, the opinions of students, teachers and coordinators of PPGs in the above-mentioned areas on the pedagogical training of their faculty and graduate students. In general, the academic community of PPGs in Health Sciences evaluates their teaching training better than those respondents from PPGs in Biological Sciences and, in both cases, research training is evaluated more positively than the teaching training. In addition, Biological and Health Sciences graduate students evaluate the performance of their teachers more negatively than the teachers and coordinators themselves, such evaluation being progressively more negative throughout the graduate course. The set of results suggests that in these PPGs and, probably, in other PPGs mainly composed by students and professors with bachelor's degrees, teaching training requires more attention from the PPGs themselves, the institutions where they are located, and from national regulatory and promotion agencies.
