Abstract

Assessing the quality of the publications of graduate programs through the system Qualis Journals has been criticized, suggesting the need for a review, since its implementation began in 1998. However, there is no consensus on the classification methodology or on the relative weights for the evaluation of graduate programs. This qualitative research was developed through consultation by electronic means to collect information addressed to the coordinators of graduate programs that have had their grades changed in the last three CAPES’ triennial evaluations (2004, 2007 and 2010). The results showed that there are uncertainties, but the majority was favorable to the continuity and improvement of this system.
