Based on the analysis of studies about the CAPES Portal of Electronic Journals, a digital library of scientific journals in Brazil, this paper discusses the creation of an indicator for assessing the adequacy of the content of the CAPES Portal for the production of theses and dissertations indexed at Digital Library of Thesis and Dissertations (BDTD) in Brazil. The article describes the basic steps to create this indicator with some considerations about its technological feasibility. The paper discusses possible impacts and the importance of this indicator for assessing the adequacy of the CAPES Portal for attending the informational needs of researchers in the Brazilian scientific community. The indicator could also provide the information necessary to implement measures for the continuous adaptability of the Portal and other digital libraries to the needs of their users.Downloads
