The reflections presented here derive from nearly a decade of research involving teachers and students of the College of Education of the Baixada Fluminense (FEBF), a campus of the State University of Rio de Janeiro (UERJ). The study focuses on the core activities of the Graduate Program in Education, Culture and Communication in Urban Peripheries. What we try to put into perspective is that when researchers in the field of education deal with social technologies disseminated as new cultural devices, the traditional ways of performing educational research cannot persist. Technological research requires researchers, teachers, students, participants and the wider public to be producers of technology rather than merely critical of its use.Downloads
