This article aims to establish a debate about graduate study in journalism, understanding it as a way to assure quality training, considering that an undergraduate degree in journalism is not mandatory for professional practice. In order to provide supporting arguments for the debate, this article addresses aspects of the profession’s historical reconstruction, as well as initiatives promoted by several organizations involving reflections on the training and professional practices of the journalist.Downloads
