This article describes the activities developed and innovations implemented in the research line of nuclear reactors in a multidisciplinary graduated program, the Graduated Program of CDTN/CNEN, in Belo Horizonte. The program offers a Master of Science and a Doctorate (stricto sensu), covering the areas of science and materials engineering, physics and chemistry of condensed matter, physics and biology in health, geoscience and mineral technology, and applications of nuclear techniques. The courses of the program take place in a traditional research center which has a nuclear reactor installation, but it did not have a research area in reactor technology in its graduate program. Aiming at the possible resumption of activities in nuclear engineering in Brazil, a new Concentration Area in Nuclear Reactor Technology has been created. Students of the program, which are not nuclear energy experts, may have notions regarding this area, enabling them to be guided in the terminology related to nuclear energy and the possible applications within their chosen fields.
