Humanities at UFABC: production of interdisciplinary knowledge in graduate programs

Abstract

The present paper aims to study the production of interdisciplinary knowledge at the Universidade Federal do ABC (UFABC), especially in the area of Humanities. Established under an innovative proposal, UFABC is characterized by fostering the production of interdisciplinary knowledge. From the analysis of two pioneering programs in Humanities, the Program of Humanities and Social Sciences (PCHS) and the Program of Land Planning and Management (PGT), this article presents an evaluation considering three elements: I) research lines; II) training profile of professors, and III) co-authored production. The results indicate that in both programs there is interdisciplinary production, however, each program adopts a specific interdisciplinary perspective. The first (PCHS) centered on the very concept of interdisciplinary and the second (PGT)
centered on the concept of territory.

Claudio Luis de Camargo Penteado, Universidade Federal do ABC (UFABC)

Mestrado em Ciências Sociais pela Pontifícia Universidade Católica de São Paulo (2001) e doutorado em Ciências Sociais pela Pontifícia Universidade Católica de São Paulo (2005). Atualmente é professor associado da Universidade Federal do ABC, atuando nos programas de pós-graduação em Ciências Humanas e Sociais e Energia da UFABC. Tem experiência na área de Ciência Política, com ênfase em Internet e Política, atuando principalmente nos seguintes temas: internet, democracia, blogs, políticas públicas, marketing político e energia.

Sidney Jard da Silva, Universidade Federal do ABC (UFABC)

Professor do Centro de Engenharia, Modelagem e Ciências Sociais Aplicadas da Universidade Federal do ABC (CECS/UFABC). Doutor e mestre em Ciência Política pela Universidade de São Paulo (USP), com doutorado sanduíche no Departamento de Ciência Política do Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). Áreas de atuação: Instituições políticas, políticas públicas, política previdenciária, política de ensino superior, processo decisório, sindicalismo.

Karen Christina Dias da Fonseca, Secretaria de Educação do Estado de São Paulo

Mestre em Ensino, História e Filosofia da Ciência e da Matemática pela Universidade Federal do ABC (2013), Especialista em Filosofia e História da Ciência e da Tecnologia pela Universidade Federal do ABC (2010), Graduada em Geografia (Licenciatura) pelo Centro Universitário de Araras Dr. Edmundo Ulson (2007) e em Ciências Sociais (Licenciatura e Bacharelado) pelo Centro Universitário Fundação Santo André (2004).
