This article aims to present a brief overview of graduate study in the Amazon in a quantitative perspective, enabling parallels with other regions of Brazil. It presents considerations about the challenges and possibilities of the formation of research networks in a region that features peculiar geographical and natural characteristics. National data and indicators of graduate education in Brazil were used, in addition to research on the media in the Amazon, especially the Internet. We conclude that, despite considerable progress in the last decade, the existing reality is insignificant when compared to the South-Southeast. We argue that a path for achieving greater regional expressivity is through the systematic formation of networks.Downloads
